Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
1. Who we are
WordLab ("we", "us") operates this website, a client-side word counter and text-analysis tool. For any privacy question, contact us via the Contact page.
2. Your text is not collected
WordLab is built so that collecting your text is technically impossible in normal use:
- All counting and analysis is performed by JavaScript running in your browser. There is no analysis server.
- Text you type, paste, or load from a file is never uploaded, logged, or stored by us.
- Files you "upload" are read directly by your browser on your device; they are not sent over the network.
- The tool continues to work with your internet connection switched off, which you can verify at any time.
3. Data stored on your device (local storage)
To make the tool convenient, WordLab saves the following in your browser's localStorage, on your device only: your current draft (auto-save), theme preference, goal values, SEO checker fields, stop-word filter setting, optional AI endpoint/model settings, and whether you dismissed the storage notice. This data never leaves your browser and we cannot access it. You can erase it at any time by pressing Clear in the toolbar and/or clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
4. The optional AI tab
The AI tab is off by default and clearly labelled. If you choose to use it, you supply your own API key and provider endpoint, and the text you select is sent directly from your browser to that provider — not through us. That provider's own privacy policy then applies. Your API key is kept only in the open page while you use it — it is not saved to storage — and is transmitted only to the provider you configured. If you do not use the AI tab, nothing is ever sent.
5. Third-party content delivery
If you import a .docx or .pdf file, your browser fetches an open-source parsing library
from a public content-delivery network (jsDelivr or cdnjs). The CDN learns only that your IP address requested the
library file — it never receives your document, which is parsed locally after the library loads.
6. Advertising (Google AdSense)
To fund the site, WordLab may display advertising served by Google AdSense. Where advertising is active, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some other third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
- For more on how Google uses data from partner sites, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland), consent for advertising cookies is requested before they are set.
Advertisers never receive your text. Ads are loaded alongside the page; the analysis engine has no mechanism to share your text with them.
7. Analytics
WordLab does not use analytics scripts that read or transmit the contents of your text. If aggregate, page-level analytics (such as visit counts) are ever added, they will be disclosed here first and will never have access to what you type.
8. Server logs
Like virtually all websites, the static-hosting provider that delivers WordLab's files may keep standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and operations. These logs relate to fetching the app's files only — they cannot contain your text, because your text is never sent.
9. Children's privacy
WordLab is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since text is not transmitted and no accounts exist, no personal data is requested from any user.
10. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is typically nothing for us to access, correct, or delete — your data lives in your own browser under your control. For questions about rights regarding advertising data, contact the relevant ad vendor (see section 6) or reach us via the Contact page and we will help you find the right place.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the "Last updated" date above will change, and material changes (for example, adding advertising or analytics) will be noted prominently on the site.
12. Contact
